Trauma
I have a heartfelt interest in working with people who have experienced trauma and have dedicated my career to supporting those in their journey to feel peace. I'm a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with a focus on complex trauma, and I am trained in EMDR.
Trauma comes in many different forms, and the way it manifests is unique to each individual. Some traumatic wounds are more visible than others, and their recognition (or lack thereof, e.g. racial trauma) can be influenced by the beliefs held by society, culture or even families.
Traumatic experiences can cause one to develop internal narratives about themselves that are encoded in the brain, beliefs that one is somehow defective, “bad”, unlovable, weak. The body and the nervous system carry the pain of these experiences, and couple with these beliefs. Feelings of helplessness or being out of control over one’s emotions, interpersonal relationships, behavior, body, or sense of safety in the world are some of the ways trauma can impact a person.
If you are here, you have survived, and there is a part inside of you that knows your worth. When I work with a person who has experienced trauma, I am first and foremost interested in gently establishing our relationship. EMDR, parts work, and somatic therapy are examples of some of the modalities we can pull from, and we will move at a pace that is comfortable for you.

“Children don’t get traumatized because they hurt, they get traumatized because they are alone with their hurt.”
— Dr. Gabor Maté
